Silver Lake ORV Area, located along the shores of Lake Michigan in Silver Lake State Park, offers 450 acres of dunes open to ORV riding adventures!

Open April 1 - Oct. 31 each year:

Access to the ORV area and dunes is stopped ½ hour ahead of closing time each evening.

Park staff recently removed the temporary closure protecting piping plover habitat along the shoreline. This means the majority of the dunes open to ORVs has been reestablished.

The parking spaces in both parking lots are 12' X 60'. If the total length of your vehicle and trailer are over 60', please contact park staff during voucher handout for special instructions. Volunteers are here every Saturday, Sunday and holiday weekend to help visitors park quickly and efficiently. Please be sure to stop when asked, follow their instruction and, most importantly, be courteous.

Sound level testing and enforcement reminder: Our sound meter calibrators have returned from their annual recertification this week, so please make sure that your vehicle is in compliance with the 94dB(A) limit. Rangers will be performing stationary sound testing this weekend and over the upcoming holiday. Operation of a vehicle that does not meet sound level requirements may result in a ticket, eviction from the park for 48 hours, or both. Please take time to get your vehicle in compliance with sound limits before visiting the Silver Lake State Park Off-Road Vehicle Area All sound level testing is performed using current SAE J 1287, June 93 and SAE J 1169, March 93 standards.
